The exciting young midfielder has lightened up the Championship for Mark Warburton’s side and could be on his way to the Premier League
Queens Park Rangers’ director of football, Les Ferdinand, has promised to recommend Newcastle United to Ebere Eze if his former club can cough out the transfer fee for the Anglo-Nigerian.
Ferdinand enjoyed a successful career playing for the likes of Queens Park Rangers, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Leicester City, among others.
Still the eighth-highest scorer in the Premier League history, Ferdinand is held in high esteem at Newcastle, where he netted 41 of his 149 EPL goals.
The former England international is a big fan of Eze and has watched him excel in this campaign, scoring 12 goals and eight assists in the second-tier.
Crystal Palace and Tottenham are reported to be considering a £20 million move for the 20-year-old, but Ferdinand has said that he’d be doing all that he could to convince Eze to make the move to Tyneside.
Speaking to Newcastle Fans TV, Ferdinand said: “If you pay enough money for him, you can get him to come!
“I’ll be giving him a glowing report in terms of what it’s like up there. It’s a great place to go and play football, but as long as you lot match our asking price, you can have him no problem!
“People have been asking me about him; even the club said lots of people are talking about him, and I said he’s probably in the top six players I’ve seen.
“He’d be in the top six easily in terms of his ability to control and pass the ball. I think the rest of it will come.
“He’s still got bags of energy, and he’s got to know how to use that energy in the right areas and how he’s going to be effective using his energy in the right areas.
“He’s got so much more to come, but he will be a superstar if he keeps his head on and goes to the right place.”
