The Nigeria international has gone on to become one of the best players in his position since he joined Leicester City for Genk for 17 million Euros in January 2017
Super Eagles star has credited Brendan Rodgers for his performances this season, saying his game moved to the next level the moment the former Liverpool manager was appointed as Leicester City’s manager.
Rodgers was appointed as Foxes manager February last year as a replacement for Claude Puel. Despite taking charge with just three months left in the season, Rodgers still managed to achieve a ninth-place finish with Leicester.
This season happens to be his first full year in charge, and his work is already showing as Leicester are on course to qualify for the champions league for the first time since 2016.
The Foxes currently sit third on the Premier League table with 51 points from 31 games. One of the players that have played an important role in Leicester’s surge this season is Wilfred Ndidi.
The Super Eagles star profile has always been on the rise since he joined Leicester in 2017, but he’s taken his game to the next level this season. Ndidi’s performances have not gone unnoticed, and he’s attracting interest from top clubs across Europe.
However, while Ndidi knows his game is on another level this season, he believes manager, Brendan Rodgers should take the credit.
“When Brendan came, I saw myself growing and understanding where I can actually grow to,” Ndidi told LCFCQ via Leicester City’s website.
“It’s hard to explain. For me, I could see a path, I could see things differently. Growing in Leicester, I’m trying to understand the game, and now, I can understand it in different directions.
“He’s given me a wider view of where this is supposed to go to make me even better. The statistics are okay, but I can be better than that – that’s the way I can explain it.”
Ndidi currently has a contract that runs till 2024, and he’ll hope to spend more time under the guidance of Rodgers.
