Mixed Fortunes For Super Eagles Stars

There was footballing action across Europe’s major leagues last night, and some Nigerian superstars featured for their respective clubs.

The Spanish La Liga made its return from the coronavirus enforced break last weekend, and yesterday another round of matches was played.

However, it was a case of mixed fortunes that featured in games played on Tuesday night. Samuel Chukwueze continued from where he left off over the weekend as he set up Carlos Bacca’s winner in Villarreal’s 1-0 win over Real Mallorca.

But it was disappointment for Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem as their Leganes side was on the receiving end of a 2-0 loss to Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Oghenekaro Etebo was a second-half substitute, but his Getafe side could not break down a resilient Espanyol side.

Meanwhile, in Germany, Jamilu Collins was in action for 90 minutes, but it ended up in disappointment as Paderborn were relegated from the Bundesliga following a 1-0 loss to Union Berlin.

And finally, in Turkey, Anthony Nwakaeme could not continue his scoring form as he limped off before halftime in Trabzonspor’s Turkey Cup win over Fenerbahce.
