Rohr Pleased Football Is Back For Super Eagles Stars

The Bundesliga returns this weekend several weeks after it was forced to shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the Premier League set to follow suit next month, all to the delight of the German tactician.

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr is glad that Nigerian stars can finally return to entertaining football lovers all over the world as two of Europe’s biggest leagues draw closer to the restart of the campaign.

After two months on suspension, the Bundesliga starts again, with Anthony Ujah and Suleiman Abdullahi up for a fight when Union Berlin host champions Bayern Munich.

Jamilu Collins and Paderborn travel to Fortuna Dusseldorf to battle out a potential relegation decider while Taiwo Awoniyi would be hoping for a fresh start when his Mainz take on Kingsley Ehizibue’s Cologne.

The Premier League plans to make a similar return next month, with Everton’s Alex Iwobi, Watford’s Isaac Success and Leicester City duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi all gearing up to get back to the football pitch.

A pleased Rohr can’t wait to see Nigerian stars get back to doing what they know how to do best.

“It’s an important step (for football) to return to competition and Bundesliga is well prepared with a great sanitary concept,” the former Gabon coach told NationSport.

“Some of our players in Germany can play again; Jamilu Collins, Maduka Okoye, Kingsley while other ones are following in June,” he added.
