Odion Ighalo: Man United Star’s Trainer Reveals Striker’s Ultimate Desire

The Nigerian forward has been described as a beast whose excellent physical conditions make him fit to play for as long as he wants

Odion Ighalo’s trainer, Ekemini Ekerette, has disclosed that the Manchester United striker wants to stay at the club for the rest of his playing career and that he’s keeping his body in the right state to fulfil that desire.

The on-loan Shanghai Shenhua forward will be 31 next month and could be drawing the curtains on an eventful career in a few years.

But Ighalo wants to spend the rest of his playing days in top shape, and he is not slowing down in demanding lots from his body, confesses his trainer.

“He’s a wonderful athlete, I’ve never seen someone more passionate about their job than him,” Ekerette told Goal.

“I think he’s in excellent physical condition. He loves the game.

“He just wants to train. Even if the league wasn’t going to be played in the next three months, he would keep training every day. He is so disciplined.”

The former Watford forward also has his total focus on staying at United beyond the summer and retains no intention of winding down his career in one of the lower, backyard leagues in Europe or Asia.

Ekerette added: “He’s a team player and has been talking about [Marcus] Rashford, [Anthony] Martial, [Mason] Greenwood, and how fantastic they all are, so he’s looking forward to hopefully getting to play with Rashford.

“He wants to stay and loves United, Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] and the fans, and he would love to be a Red for the rest of his life.”

Ighalo has scored four goals in eight games since joining the Red Devils in January and will be looking to add to that tally when the Premier League resumes next month.
