Kanu Or Jay-Jay? Super Eagles Star Picks His Favourite

The former Premier League stars are two of the best players the Super Eagles have ever produced, and there’s always been a debate on who is the best between them

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has revealed he prefers Austin Jay-Jay Okocha to Kanu Nwankwo.

Although Kanu won a lot more than Okocha and he is also a role model to the current Super Eagles generation, Okoye says he relates more with the former Nigeria captain.

Jay-Jay, as he is famously called, is arguably the most talented player to ever come out of the shores of Nigeria. A genius on the ball, the former Bolton man held sway during his time with the national team.

Okocha was part of Nigeria’s golden generation that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations title and also qualified for the World Cup in USA 1994.  The former PSG star created magic with the ball and was always a delight to watch anytime on the pitch, and that attracted him to Okoye

Speaking in an Instagram chat with the Super Eagles account, the Fortuna Dusseldorf II goalkeeper was asked to choose his favourite player between Kanu and Okocha.

“Jay Jay, I have his jersey upstairs in my apartment,” Okoye said.

Okocha won 75 caps for the Super Eagles, scoring 15 goals.
