Ighalo’s Hopes Of Extending His Deal At Manchester United Now Uncertain

The former Watford striker could still yet leave Old Trafford when the Premier League finishes despite impressing since he joined

Odion Ighalo hopes of earning an extension at Manchester United could be dashed after it was reported the Red Devils are waiting to see when the Premier League resumes before committing to a new deal.

The English topflight, along with other leagues across the world, have been on break for almost two months now due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Before the suspension of the league, Ighalo joined Manchester United on loan from Shanghai Shenhua on the last day of January.

The loan deal was supposed to keep him at Old Trafford till the end of the season. But following his impressive start to his career, the Red Devils were considering offering him a permanent deal or extend his loan deal.

However, that plan has been put on hold as United are currently having second thoughts about extending the loan deal of the former Super Eagles star.

According to the Dailymail, the Red Devils are waiting to see when the Premier League returns before opening talks with Shanghai Shenhua.

Also, with Marcus Rashford close to full fitness, there’s a belief that the team will no longer be needing the services of Ighalo.

Nevertheless, Ighalo is still set to stay at the club at least until the current Premier League season finishes.
