Football fans heaved a sigh of relief after Bundesliga became the first major league in Europe to restart after it was suspended due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
It should be recalled that the league was put on hold in March in other to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
The league returned on Saturday afternoon with a mouthwatering derby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 and other matches.
Dortmund annihilated their fierce rivals 4-0 courtesy of a brace from Raphael Guerrero, Erling Haaland, and Thorgan Hazard completed the rout.
Dortmund coach Lucien Favre, started Jordon Sancho on the bench, although the England star replaced Thorgan Hazard with ten minutes to go.
Still, the trio of Erling Haaland, Raphael Guerrero, and Thorgan Hazard tore Schalke to pieces leaving Sancho with little or no job to do.
Haaland has been a revelation since joining the club from Salzburg in the January transfer window; he has now scored ten goals in nine Bundesliga matches.
Dortmund are now a point adrift of table-toppers Bayern Munich in second place.
Bayern Munich is in action against Union Berlin on Sunday. In other matches, Wolfsburg defeated Augsburg away from home 2-1, Leipzig and Freiburg played out a 1-1 draw.
Hoffenheim lost 3-0 at home to Hertha Berlin, while Paderborn and Dusseldorf played out a goalless draw.
