Ebere Eze Names The Two Lads Of Nigerian Descent Helping Him Excel At QPR

The creative midfielder is undoubtedly the best player at Rangers and arguably the best in the Championship, but he acknowledges the input of his teammates with African backgrounds

Ebere Eze is pleased to be working with the trio of Olamide “Mide” Shodipo, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Ilias Chair, saying their undisputed abilities help him to enjoy playing for Queens Park Rangers.

22-year-old Osayi-Samuel has been one of the few shining lights during an indifferent Rangers’ campaign.

The Okija-born winger joined QPR in 2017 but has genuinely stepped up his game this term, netting five times and providing eight assists in 29 league games.

Ireland youth international Shodipo, also 22, is a midfielder still eligible to play for Nigeria, just like Eze and Osayi-Samuel.

And despite the Leixlip-born winger playing only five matches and clocking just 60 minutes for Mark Warburton’s side this term, Eze has been impressed with his quality.

21-year-old Eze is convinced that the duo, alongside Morocco’s Ilias Emilian Chair, has played crucial roles in keeping him happy on the pitch at Loftus Road.

“We’ve got Ilias [Chair], Bright [Osayi-Samuel], me, Mide [Shodipo]; we’ve got young players in the team that are very good players, pushing on to do greater things,” Eze told SkySports.

“It’s just good to be in and around them and to work with such good people.”

“Honestly, it’s so good playing for QPR because I enjoy going in every day, and that’s how you play the best football in your career. You’re free in the mind, you’re not worried going in, you’re not anxious or anything like that – you feel confident to do your job.”

Before the coronavirus pandemic halted football activities in the Championship, Eze had scored 12 goals and created eight assists in 37 games for QPR.
