As European club sides prepare to resume from the coronavirus enforced break, Super Eagles striker, Peter Olayinka will not be making a return for some months with Slavia Prague
The Fortuna Liga is set to resume on May 25, but the Nigeria international will not be playing when the game returns after he picked up an injury in training.
According to TVP Sport, Olayinka broke his tibia bone at Slavia Prague’s opening training session on Wednesday and subsequently underwent surgery.
Following the surgery, it was revealed that the 24-year-old would miss three months of action, which means he won’t get to feature again until next season.
Just six games are left in the regular round of the Czech Republic topflight before the top six teams enter into a five-round playoff competition to determine the champions.
Olayinka’s injury is a blow for The red and whites who are set to qualify for the playoff round as they currently lead the table with 58 points, eight clear of second-placed, Victoria Plzen.
The former Gent attacker has made 29 appearances in all competitions for the league leaders this season. He has found the back of the net six times and provided five assists in those 29 games.
