The Super Eagles star joined Leicester from Genk in 2017 and has been compared with France international, Ngolo Kante.
Wilfred Ndidi has praised Chelsea star Ngolo Kante but insists he does not enjoy the comparison between him and the Frenchman.
Kante played a vital role as Leicester City shocked the world to win the Premier League in the 2015/2016 season.
However, the 29-year-old left the King Power Stadium the following season, signing for Chelsea. The Foxes struggled to cope with his departure until they signed Ndidi six months later.
The Nigeria international joined Leicester from Genk in January 2017 and helped fill in the void left by Kante. The Nigeria international won the club’s young player of the season in his first season despite joining in January.
He won the award again in his first full season at the club. Ndidi’s performance has made Leicester fans forget about Kante, and that’s even drawn up comparisons between the pair.
However, Ndidi insists he is only focusing on his game, and he does not want to be compared with anyone.
“I’ve always seen myself as Ndidi, I want to be seen as Ndidi,” the Super Eagles midfielder said in a Q&A on his Instagram page
“Kante is a great player. If you see the way he plays, you’ll know he’s a machine.
“The advice I got right from the time while I was playing that position is just be yourself.
“Every player has his own quality. It’s not everybody that can be like Ronaldo or Messi. Everybody has his own way.
“I just want to be myself, play my game and fight for three points.”
Ndidi has featured in 27 games for Brendan Rodgers side this season before the Premier League was put on hold as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
