Liverpool Target Is The Future Of Nigerian Football- Manchester United’s Ace

Following his retirement from international football last year, Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo has tipped Lille’s hotshot, Victor Osimhen as the future of Nigerian football.

The 21-year-old has been leading the line for Nigeria since Ighalo quit the national team. He has fit in perfectly with the former Golden Eaglets star scoring four times in the four games the Super Eagles have played following Ighalo’s retirement.

If his performance with the National team is impressive, then his exploits at club level have been out of this world.

Following his 20 goal haul campaign with Royal Charleroi, Lille paid 13m euros for his services last June. While some players find it hard at first in a new league, Osimhen settled in quickly, scoring twice on his debut.

The Super Eagles star have added another impressive 16 goals in all competitions to the two he scored on his debut for Les Dogues.

And it is why teams like Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea are interested in the services of a player that has scored 18 times and provided five assists in 38 games for Lille this season.

His exploits have not gone unnoticed to the man he replaced in the Super Eagles squad. Speaking to Elegbete TV, Ighalo praised Osimhen’s attitude and has always been in touch with him.

The former Watford mand also urged Osimhen to keep on working hard and break many records for both club and country.

“I talk to Osimhen. He’s a good guy—almost every time I advise him,” Ighalo told Elegbete TV.

“He’s the future of Nigerian football. He’s going to do so well in football.

“I love him. I just want him to keep working hard. He’s going to break so many records in Europe & Nigeria.”
