The Nigerian international has spent his entire senior career in England, but it may be time to move to another country as Turkish Super Lig table-toppers Trabzonspor are keen on his services.
Barely weeks after sacking former Super Eagles skipper Mikel Obi, Turkish giants Trabzonspor have marked out Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho as one of their potential signings in the summer.
According to a report from Fotospor, the Turkish side are set to lose Liverpool-linked Alexander Solorth and have identified Iheanacho as one of the potential options to replace him.
Iheanacho has rediscovered his scoring touch this campaign, netting eight goals and four assists in 18 games across all competitions for the Foxes. By contrast, the 23-year-old only managed two goals all season last term.
Brendan Rodgers may not be willing to quickly discard the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner, who was acquired from Manchester City in 2017 for €27.7 million and is seen as the long-term replacement for Englishman Jamie Vardy.
Although Iheanacho is now only valued at 12 million euros by transfermarkt, Trabzonspor will still have to break their transfer record of €6.2 million paid for Gökhan Ünal over a decade ago to convince Leicester City to part with their Nigerian striker.
Aside from Iheanacho, Trabzonspor are also reportedly looking at Aston Villa’s Wesley and Newcastle United’s Joelinton.
