Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has revealed his desire to fulfil a long time dream of playing for Spanish giants, Real Madrid.
Awaziem started his career at El-Kanemi Warriors before moving to Europe to pitch his tent with FC Porto in 2014.
He has been sent out on loan to Nantes, Caykur Rizespor and Leganes in the last three seasons after making ten appearances for FC Porto’s first team in 2016.
Awaziem has been a regular for Leganes in the Spanish La Liga this season making 18 appearances.
He has voiced out his admiration for Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos, praising his leadership qualities.
The 23-year-old is hoping to represent the Los Blancos one day. He said while speaking on the league’s official Twitter handle, La LigaEN.
“I have been dreaming about it [La Liga]. It’s my dream to play in La Liga and also play for Real Madrid, and I am fighting towards it, and I hope and pray I achieve it one day,” Awaziem said.
“I like Sergio Ramos. I like him a lot. I like his style of play his attitude to the game, his fighting spirit and his leadership.”
He also expressed his desire to remain at Leganes beyond the end of the season.
“Officially, I am a Porto player, but it depends on what the future holds. If Porto have a future for me to stay in the club for I sure I’m going to stay there because I love the club also,” he added.
“But if they don’t have an option or make a position for me to play there, then it’s better I continue in La Liga with Leganes.”
Awaziem made his Super Eagles debut in 2017 in a 3-0 friendly victory over Togo in Paris.
He was part of the Super Eagles squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 African Cup of Nations.
