The Coronavirus has stopped all football games, but the Super Eagles have been handed a massive boost amid the pandemic.
Francis Uzoho has returned to full training, and that will delight the Super Eagles team and manager, Gernot Rohr.
The 21-year-old has been out since he suffered a knee injury in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Brazil last October. Minutes into the second-half, Uzoho landed awkwardly on his knee while trying to deal with a cross from the left.
He was stretchered off in that game, and further tests showed he damaged his ligaments. He was subsequently ruled out for six months, but he has confirmed his return after just five months.
Uzoho shared a video of himself training at home, stating he is back. The former Elche goalkeeper tagged some of his Super Eagles teammates, and he even joked he would allow them to score against him.
In Uzoho’s absence, Akpeyi was given the nod to play in Super Eagles qualifiers against the Bennin Republic and Lesotho.
Uzoho was starting to establish himself as the undisputed No 1 before the injury. The 21-year-old will hope to win his place back when the Super Eagles return to action.
