Many people will do anything to have Cristiano Ronaldo’s fit-looking body, but most can’t survive the Juventus star’s daily fitness regime.

While the Portugal international has been going at it for the best part of three decades, it is never too late to start your fitness program.

Soccernet has already pointed out that exercising is one of the ways you can beat boredom during these COVID-19 lockdown days. And we have also highlighted a few workout activities you can start with.

But as you proceed with simple exercises, please do bear in mind these few tips that can help keep you out of harm’s way.

1. Stay Hydrated
Drink fluids, enough. Water, juices, anything healthy. Before, during, and after exercising.

Exercises – simple or rigorous – drains body fluids, and replenishing those fluids is essential for maintaining optimal performance.

The smart take is to drink fluids throughout the day as it helps to maintain healthy hydration levels.

A properly hydrated body recovers better after each workout and is in top shape for the next training session.

2. Eat Good
A well-balanced diet is essential to your fitness program, so do eat right.

All food groups are necessary to sustain healthy energy levels and get the most out of your workout.

Cut down on junks and tone up your carbohydrates intake. Protein will do your body loads of good as well, so spice it up.

Healthy fats have their roles to play as well in the grand scheme of things, hence snub them not.

3. Warm-Up
Warm-up before your workout. It may sound simple, but it goes a long way in helping to prevent injuries afterwards.

To warm up, simply start your workout with some aerobic exercises like arm swings and leg kicks. You may even walk around a bit before you go on a run.

These simple actions can help improve your flexibility and reduce soreness after your workout.

4. Listen to Your Body
Exercising has its health benefits, but if done without being mindful of your limits, it may lead to complications.

Endeavour, therefore, to pay attention to the signals your body gives out, especially if you’re not used to working out every day.

If you feel pain or discomfort while exercising, stop, and rest before continuing. Pushing through the pain is not a good idea, as it can cause injuries.

No rule says working out harder and faster is better. So take your time, work at your own pace, and your body will come out the better for it.
