One of Nigeria’s greatest goalkeepers believes that the present Super Eagles squad has the quality to rule the world.
Former Nigeria captain Vincent Enyeama is confident that with the fantastic players at the disposal of Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles would soon ‘conquer everyone.’
This prediction came after the team’s Franco-German head coach released his 24-man squad list in preparations for the AFCON qualifying doubleheader slated for later this month.
Rohr extended first time invitation to the duo of Heracles Almelo striker Cyriel Dessers and FC Cologne’s fullback Kingsley Ehizibue.
25-year-old Dessers is currently the top scorer in Netherland’s top division with 15 goals in 25 appearances for Heracles Almelo. While 24-year-old Ehizibue has been a super regular for Die Geißböcke in the Bundesliga this campaign, featuring 21 times.
There’s an anticipated return for Getafe’s Oghenekaro Etebo, who missed Nigeria’s first two qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Lesotho.
Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho also returns following his rejuvenated form.
Other names on the list include the regulars like Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, William Troost Ekong, and Ahmed Musa.
With Dessers inclusion, Nigeria now have one of the best attacks in Africa. The Super Eagles are currently blessed with the likes of Lille’s Victor Osimhen, Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze, and the rejuvenated Kelechi Iheanacho of Leicester City.
This is a fact not lost on Enyeama, who tweeted:
“This is a very good team. This generation can conquer everyone.”
The Super Eagles lead Group L of the African Cup of Nations qualifying series with six points following wins over the Squirrels and the Crocodiles.
