Nigerian international Semi Ajayi has been a consistent performer for West Bromwich Albion this term, and he has disclosed the personal objectives that drive him on, Soccernet.ng understands.
Albion’s strong man in defence, Ajayi, has set the three targets of playing regularly in the Premier League, helping Nigeria reach the 2022 FIFA World Cup and leading the Super Eagles to her fourth continental triumph.
West Brom are clear favourites to return to the top flight this season with the Hawthorn landlords sitting pretty in second place in the Championships before the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic prematurely brought a halt to the campaign.
On the international scene, Ajayi has grown to become a mainstay in Gernot Rohr’s Super Eagles. And with Nigeria, one of Africa’s regular representatives at the World Cup, it should not take forever before the former Arsenal academy graduate fulfils that dream.
The 26-year-old defender missed the 2019 AFCON, where Nigeria ended in third place, but the three-time champions are on course to qualify for the next edition and should be one of the favourites to land the trophy.
None of Ajayi’s football wishlists is impossible, and the former Ajax trialist believes it would be excellent if he could accomplish them all.
“I would say play in the Premier League consistently, and that’s obviously something I would like to do here with Albion. That would be in there,” Ajayi responded to a question about his football bucket list on the club’s official website.
“And definitely play in the World Cup. A third one? Win the African Nations. All three would be excellent.”
Ajayi has made 35 appearances for West Brom this term, scoring five goals.
