Nigeria football hero and former Ajax Amsterdam star George Finidi has heaved a sigh of relief after medical reports confirmed that he is free of the pandemic.
One of Nigeria’s greatest ever players and arguably the Super Eagles finest right-winger in history, Finidi took to one of his social media accounts to express his fear and anxiety as he prepared to take coronavirus test.
“My people, I just got to the hospital to run a CORONAVIRUS test. Please wish me well. Am fucking scared!” the former Ipswich ace wrote on Instagram.
The fear of coronavirus is the beginning of wisdom for people worldwide after the infection was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization.
Cases of the disease have been recorded in all continents, except Antarctica, with Europe the worst hit after China where the outbreak originated.
The epidemic has claimed the lives of thousands of people with hundreds of thousands of others infected.
Football has not been spared, with many of the world’s leagues suspended. A few players and managers, including Juventus’ Paolo Dybala and Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, have tested positive to the contagious disease.
Happily, though, Finidi will not be added to the long list of coronavirus’ victims as results reveal he has got nothing to worry about.
Once again, he shared the good news on his Instagram page.
“Hi guys, thank God they allowed me to go home after result came out negative. Thanks for the support, and don’t be afraid to run a test if you’re having strange symptoms.”
Finidi won the 1994 African Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles and the 1995 UEFA Champions League with Ajax during a hugely successful playing career.
