Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has been banned for two matches following his sending off in Fortuna Düsseldorf II’s 2-0 win against Homberg last week in the Regionalliga.
The 20-year-old was sent off for a kung-fu-like tackle on Homberg striker Cagatay Kader outside the 18-yard-box on the half-hour mark.
He is set to miss Fortuna Düsseldorf II’s next two matches against Borussia Mönchengladbach II and Lippstadt 08 because of the suspension.
Maduka is one of the three goalkeepers named in Super Eagles squad for the African Nations Cup qualifiers against Sierra Leone.
He made his Super Eagles debut against Brazil when he came off the bench to replace the injured Francis Uzoho in October 2019.
Maduka will battle it out with Daniel Akpeyi for a chance to be the first choice goalkeeper in the doubleheader against Sierra Leone.
The first leg will be played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on March 27 while the second leg will hold four days later in Freetown.
