Former Borussia Dortmund Star Against Ighalo’s Potential Return To The Super Eagles

The 30-year-old retired from international football last year, but there have been calls for him to rescind the decision following his move to Manchester United.

Despite talks of him making a return to the national team, former Borussia Dortmund star, Victor Ikpeba believes Nigerians should respect Odion Ighalo’s decision to retire from the Super Eagles.

Ighalo announced his retirement following Nigeria’s third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation in Egypt. The former Watford striker finished as the top scorer in that tournament with five goals, but immediately announced he is hanging up his boots from international football.

However, following his move to Manchester United, there have been talks about a potential return.

Ighalo has scored three goals in six appearances for the Red Devils, and Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr, revealed he would try to convince the former Watford man to change his decision.

But a former Super Eagles star, Ikpeba, says it is not a good idea. The ex-Monaco man insists Ighalo’s decision should be respected, while he also believes he has paid his dues.

” I don’t see what Ighalo is coming back to do. I think we should respect his decision, Ikpeba said on Supersport’s Monday night football.
