Super Eagles forgotten defender, Leon Balogun has been named in the English Football League Championship team of the week.
Balogun was impressive in Wigan’s 1-0 win over league leaders West Brom at the weekend. The former Mainz defender joined the Latics from Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window after struggling for regular playing time.
Although he played for just 69 minutes in the win over the Baggies, it was enough to earn him a place in the team of the week. The Nigeria international has played five matches for Wigan since making his debut against Middlesbrough.
Balogun will be hoping to continue his new-found form in a bid to seal a permanent move to Wigan in the summer.
Eberechi Eze also made the English Football League Championship team of the week following his performance against Birmingham City.
The Super Eagles target managed four shots and had an 89% pass completion rate in the encounter.
QPR are in the 14th position while Wigan are in the 19th position on the championship log.
