Osimhen hits milestone, but late Isaac Success strike denies Napoli victory over Udinese

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored, but a last-minute strike from Isaac Success ensured that Udinese forced Napoli to a 1-1 draw at the Bluenergy Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

Three Super Eagles players were on parade when Napoli traveled to Udinese for their Serie A clash. Maduka Okoye manned the sticks and Success played in attack for Napoli, while Osimhen led Napoli’s attack.

The first half was quite drab, with few chances falling for either side. Osimhen was up and about, but he failed to threaten Maduka Okoye, who was in goal for Udinese.

However, the game sparked to life in the second half. Six minutes after the break, Osimhen broke the deadlock for Napoli. The 25-year-old striker rose to meet a cross from Matteo Politano from the right and sent a well-placed header into the net to make it 1-0 to the Partenopeans. His goal ensured that he became the third Napoli player to score against a single Serie A side in six consecutive games. The other two players are Gonzalo Higuain and Dries Mertens.

Super Eagles forward Isaac Success, who was introduced got up and doing immediately he entered the pitch. He appeared to have been fouled in the 62nd minute, but the referee waved it off.

In the 80th minute, Osimhen scored the second for Napoli. However, the goal was reviewed afterwards, and it was ruled out for offside. He had another opportunity to score in the 84th minute, but Okoye displayed himself in good light, easily saving Osimhen’s shot.

It seemed like Napoli would end up with all three points on the night as the game drifted into stoppage time. However, Success had other ideas, as he latched onto a ball in the box and struck a clean finish to make it 1-1 and ensure that both teams settled for a poin each.
