“We wanted three points”- Isaac Success boasts after helping relegation-threatened Udinese snatch draw against Napoli

Udinese were on the cusp of a loss, but Success scored a late goal

Super Eagles forward Isaac Success has insisted that his Udinese side were targeting a victory when they played against Napoli at the Bluenergy Stadium on Monday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Success was unsung for Udinese on Monday night, helping his side secure a 1-1 draw. The Bianconeri needed a win to keep their hopes of surviving relegation alive, and it looked quite feasible, as they were playing a Napoli side that have struggled badly this season.

Napoli dominated the entire fixture and created more chances. And it was not a surprise when Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen scored the opener just six minutes into the second half.

Osimhen scored a second for Napoli ten minutes from time, but it was ruled out for offside. It seemed like Udinese would run out with a win, but Success had other ideas, as he poked the ball into the net in the second minute of stoppage time.

Following the result, Success was quite bullish, as he stated that Udinese were targeting a win but would take the positives from the result.

“The point is more important than the goal, it brings us closer to our goal,” Success said, per Napoli Magazine.

“The draw comes against a great team, we wanted to take the three points in front of our fans but now we have to look forward, this draw gives us morale.”

Udinese are in a precarious situation, as they are just one point away from safety. They have to win their last three games in the Serie A to stand a good chance of surviving the drop this season.

  • Every point counts when you’re in a relegation battle, and I hope this draw gives them some momentum moving forward.
