Coronavirus: New Measures In Place Ahead Of Super Eagles Clash Against Sierra Leone

The Covid-19 epidemic, which has killed over 2,000 people worldwide, is affecting sports events, and as a result, measures will be put in place ahead of Nigeria’s clash against Sierra Leone

The Super Eagles host the Leone Stars in the first leg of their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier on March 27. But unlike other games, fans will be denied direct contact with any Super Eagles player due to request from their clubs.

The clubs asked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to put this measure in place to prevent their players from contacting the coronavirus.

Also, the players and manager, Gernot Rohr, will be tested for the virus on arrival into the country.

The coronavirus has affected football competitions including leagues in Italy, Spain and also the UEFA Champions League.

Matches in the Italian Serie A were played behind closed doors last weekend, and it has now been confirmed that there won’t be any sporting competitions in the country until April 3 at least.

A couple of UEFA Champions League games will also be played behind closed doors, while the Spanish Football Federation also announced that fans would not be allowed in the stadium for the next two La Liga games.
