What Odion Ighalo Said After Arriving At Manchester United

The former Super Eagles star finally lands in Manchester, where he will team up with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side following his deadline day switch.

Odion Ighalo joined Manchester United from Shanghai Shenhua on a temporary deal that keeps him in England until the end of the season.

It is the 30-year-old striker’s second spell in the Premier League after his two and a half years stay at Watford. Ighalo banged in 40 goals in 100 games in all competitions for the Hornets.

The former Granada forward has made a success of his time in China, winning the Chinese Cup with Shenhua in December. Ighalo reportedly turned down the opportunity to join Barcelona last year, but he has jumped at the chance to be a Red Devil.

The experienced Nigerian has today opened up on his unbridled joy at securing a move to the club whom he supported as a child.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Ighalo labelled his Red Devils switch a dream, adding that he is looking forward to getting to work with the rest of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad:

‘It’s a dream come true because since I was a kid I followed and dreamt of Manchester United.’

‘But it is a reality now. I cannot say much more now until I get started. It’s been crazy. Obviously, I am happy to be in Manchester first of all.’

‘This is a great opportunity for me and I am grateful to God, and to my agent, and the coach who has given me this opportunity to be here.’

‘I am happy to be here and to work out with the team and finish very well this season.’

‘The plan is to just chill today because I traveled a very long way from Shanghai to Manchester.’

‘Today is to just rest and tomorrow we start to work.’

The 2019 AFCON top goalscorer will hope to make his United debut in a fortnight when Solskjaer’s men trade tackles with Chelsea.
