VAR Denies Iheanacho As Ndidi Makes His Return In Leicester City’s Loss To Norwich

The Super Eagles star has eight goals for the Foxes this season and could have made it nine, but he was denied by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) as Norwich stunned Leicester City thanks to a Jamal Lewis fine strike at Carrow Road on Friday night.

In the absence of Jamie Vardy, Leicester manager, Brendan Rodgers handed Kelechi Iheanacho the chance to lead Foxes’ attack on Friday night. However, the Super Eagles star could not prevent his side from suffering a shock defeat to Norwich.

Leicester went into the game with no wins in their last three league games, but they started on the front foot with Iheanacho getting the first real chance of the game.

But the Nigeria international could not hit the target from close range. Neither side was able to break the deadlock, but Leicester came out firing after the restart.

The Foxes thought they took the lead after Iheanacho fired home, but his effort was ruled out for handball in the build-up following a VAR review.

It’s a decision that would eventually haunt them as Norwich scored the winner through a brilliant effort from Jamal Lewis. Brendan Rodgers side tried to get back into the game, but the Canaries repelled everything they threw at them.

However, the Northern Irishman would be delighted with the return of Wilfred Ndidi. The 23-year-old missed Leicester’s last three league games through injury, but he was introduced in the 67th minute of the loss as a replacement for Hamza Choudhury.

Despite the loss, Leicester remain in the third position with 50 points, but they could see the six points gap between them and Chelsea reduced to three should the Blues beat Bournemouth on Saturday.

Norwich meanwhile stay bottom but are now just five points away from safety.
