Reports: Why There Was No ‘Buy Option’ In Ighalo’s United Deal

The former Super Eagles star joined Manchester United on a six-month loan deal from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, but there was no option for a permanent transfer.

In a deal that shocked a lot of people, United managed to beat the deadline clock to bring in Odion Ighalo on a six-month loan deal with no option to buy.

It has now been revealed that lack of time was the reason why Ighalo’s move to Old Trafford did not include an option to buy permanently.

According to Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, time was not on United’s side to discuss ‘a buy option’ in the deal. However, the two clubs will resume negotiations this week to review the terms of a permanent transfer.

Meanwhile, Odion Ighalo’s agent, Patrick Bastianelli, has revealed that the difference in time zone is the reason why they were able to sign on the dotted lines.

“These deals come down to the last minute. Luckily the different time zones played in our favour — this is a great opportunity for him is the club he always dreamed of since he was a child,” he told Di Marzio with quotes gotten from Utdreport.
