Messi Or Ronaldo: Ighalo Says United’s Teammate Is Europe’s Best Currently

New Manchester United signing Odion Ighalo can’t wait to take to the pitch with his new teammates and has declared England international Marcos Rashford as the best player in Europe right now.

The on-loan Shanghai Shenhua striker has suggested that his new teammate his better than the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar Junior presently.

The former Nigeria international was quickly drafted in on transfer deadline day to serve as a backup to the injured Rashford. But Ighalo is confident that the Three Lions star is the best in the business on the continent and can’t wait for the Englishman’s return.

Rashford won the PFA Player of the Month for December last year, but that is as far as the Red Devils’ striker has won this term. The youngster is yet be mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Messi and Ronaldo, despite the iconic duo approaching the end of their incredible careers.

Barcelona icon Lionel Messi claimed his sixth Ballon d’Or award in December and has a record six European Golden Shoes. The Argentine has also featured in the UEFA Team of the Year in eleven of the last twelve seasons.

Also in December, Cristiano Ronaldo added the Serie A Footballer of the Year crown to his 5 Ballon d’Or awards. The Juventus star is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time for many years now.

But Ighalo, who reserved special praises for Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial, sees no one better than Rashford currently.

“These players are great players. Greenwood is a very good player; young, very good left foot, I’ve watched some of his game, ” Ighalo told Man United’s official website.

“Martial is very skillful, he can do so much magic with the ball and Rashford I think is, for me, one of the best, if not the best, player in Europe right now. He’s doing well, scoring goals; he’s fast, he has good technique.

“Unfortunately, he is injured now, and hopefully I am looking forward to playing with him, because he is a good player. So, for me, it is just a plus to the team, to work hard with these guys and make sure we end the season very well.”

Ighalo will have the chance to star alongside his best player on the continent when Rashford returns from his injury next month.
