Manchester United Striker Odion Ighalo Hopes Former Club Wins Relegation Battle

The Hornets are in a deep struggle to maintain their top-flight status, and the Nigerian has sent them his best wishes in that regard.

Man United forward Odion Ighalo admits his loving affection towards Watford, and he has charged his former teammates to ensure the club’s Premier League survival.

The former Super Eagles star spent three memorable years at the Vicarage Road before moving to China. He has since completed a sensational loan switch to United and played a part as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men handed a crunching 3-0 defeat to Watford at the Old Trafford on Sunday.

The latest defeat left Watford wallowing deep in relegation waters, with the club sitting in the 19th position with 24 points after 27 rounds of matches.

Ighalo has, however, urged the Hornets to keep fighting to retain their status in the Premier League.

“They are always in my heart, and I love them for that,” the 30-year-old told the Watford Observer.

“My wish is for them to keep fighting to remain in the Premier League because I know they have a good team, they are good people, it’s a family club, and they have a good owner, and I just wish them all the very best to remain in the Premier League.”

During his first spell in England, Ighalo scored 40 goals in 100 appearances for the Hornets.
