The Barcelona skipper has paid tribute to ex-manager Ernesto Valverde who was dismissed as the club’s boss on Monday.
Valverde was sacked as Barcelona’s manager on Monday following his side’s defeat against Atletico Madrid in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup.
Although the Catalan giants currently sit on top of La Liga table, the Board took the decision to dismiss Valverde following a series of inconsistent results that dates back to last season. Despite winning the league in consecutive seasons, Valverde was criticised for his style, while he also blamed for Barcelona’s collapse against Roma and Liverpool in the champions league.
Nevertheless, Messi has paid his tribute him, saying he will do well in his next adventure. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner took to Instagram to show his support for Valverde.
‘Thank you for everything,’
‘I’m sure you’ll do great wherever you go because besides being a great professional you are a magnificent person. ‘Good luck and a big hug, Messi said on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Former Real Betis manager Quique Setien has been announced as Valverde’s replacement, and he will be in charge when the champions host Granada on Sunday. The 61-year-old signed a deal that will keep him at Camp Nou until 2022
