Onyekuru’s Return Delights Galatasaray Boss

The Nigeria international completed his loan move to the Turkish champions on Sunday, a situation that brings delight to the heart of Galatasaray manager Terim.

Gala boss Fatih Terim has revealed he can’t wait to start working with Henry Onyekuru again, six months after the Super Eagles forward left the club at the expiration of his loan deal.

Onyekuru rejoined the Turkish Super Lig champions on loan after a difficult spell with Monaco in the French Ligue 1.

The former Everton attacker scored 14 goals in 31 league appearances to help Galatasaray win the League and Cup double during his first loan stint.

The 22-year-old is expected to help lift the struggling champions who are a massive 10 points adrift of league leaders Sivasspor.

Fatih Terim could not contain his joy once Henry Onyekuru’s loan deal back to the club was confirmed.

“Onyekuru is no stranger to us. He is a player well known to everybody in Galatasaray. We couldn’t get him here at the beginning of the season, but he is here with us now,” Terim told the club’s official website.

“He is a player that we believed in and wanted to have an important role in our championship. It’s a pity we couldn’t bring him in before the start of the season. Now he starts again with us.

“Onyekuru is an important player for us. He is a player who will make our attack stronger.”

Onyekuru will have a chance to begin to pay back the trust the Turkish side repose in him when Galatasaray play host to Denzilispor in their next league game on Sunday, January 19.
