There was no representative from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) at the burial of former Flying Eagles captain, Isaac Promise.
The Olympic Silver medalist reportedly died of a heart attack on October 2, 2019, in America. His remains have now been laid to rest at his Umudim, Ohekelem, Imo State.
However, according to reports, there was no member of the NFF present at the Burial ceremony despite receiving an invitation from Promise’s family.
A family member told newsmen that they sent out the invitation in December, but it’s a shame the NFF could not even send a representative.
“Imagine a former captain of Nigeria and there were no NFF representatives among the audience and not even a former teammate.
“This is another lesson for footballers, you are only important when you are actively involved in the game because no one cares after your career is over.”
However, a couple of fans on Twitter paid their last respect to the former Antalyaspor striker, with many criticising the NFF for their no show.
Promise represented Nigeria at U-17, U-20 and U-23 levels. He was part of the Flying Eagles team that won Silver at the 2005 World Youth Championship, while he also won Silver Medal with the Dream team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
