Ndidi Set For Leicester Return As Rodgers Admits He’s Been A Big Loss

The Nigeria international could return earlier than scheduled after Brendan Rodgers confirmed he could be in the squad against West Ham on Wednesday night.

Ndidi’s has missed Leicester’s last three games and was not expected to return until February following surgery on his knee.

However, he has made a speedy recovery and could return for the clash against the Hammers tonight. Speaking in his press conference ahead of the encounter, Rodgers revealed the Super Eagles star could be involved, although they won’t rush his return if he’s feeling uncomfortable.

“Yes, there’s a great chance he’ll be in the squad for tomorrow,” Rodgers said at his press conference

“We’ll see how he is from today. He’s made an incredible recovery. I think that’s the thing with the type of operation he had, people will recover in different timescales. For Wilf, it was 11 days.

“He’s been out on the pitch, he’s had all the tests. It’s a great testament to him and our medical team, the work that’s gone into getting him fit. He’s available, we think.”

The former Liverpool manager said the 23-year-old was involved in aerial duels to see if there’s going to be any effect, but he’s turned out perfectly fine.

“We’ll give it another period of time just to make sure that he feels good and feels right in himself.

“He wasn’t one that we wanted to rush, but over the course of the last number of days, he’s been fantastic.

“He’s been in duels, he’s had the test and if there was going to be any effects, it would have taken place over the last few days. He’s come through it really well.”

Rodgers also admitted the former Genk player’s absence is a big miss for them, and he can’t wait to have him back. The Foxes have failed to win any of their league games since Ndidi picked up the injury.

“He’s a real colossal player for us. He allows to defend & to defend forward.

“He covers a lot of space for our attacking players and there are not too many players better than him at his job.

“To have him back early is a huge boost. He’s been a miss, no doubt, Rodgers added.

The Foxes suffered a 2-1 defeat at Burnley last time out, but they will be hope to get back to winning ways when they welcome West Ham at the King Power stadium.
