Lionel Messi set a new feat in Barcelona’s 5-0 win over Kenneth Omeruo’s Leganes side in a Copa Del Rey clash between the two sides at Camp Nou on Thursday night.
The Argentina captain became the first player to record 500 wins in all competitions for a Spanish side following Barcelona’s win on Thursday.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner was missing in the Round of 16 win over Ibiza, but he was on from start to finish last night.
Antoine Griezmann gave Barcelona an early lead in the fourth minute before Clement Lenglet added a second 24 minutes later to ensure Setien’s men took a two-goal lead into the break.
Messi added a third in the 59th minute after his shot was deflected into the back of the net before Arthur added a fourth 13 minutes from time.
Messi scored his second and Barcelona’s fifth in the 89th in what was a comfortable night for the Blaugrana. The win means Messi has now recorded 500 wins in all competitions for Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles star Chidozie Awaziem was in action for Leganes for the whole 90 minutes, but can’t do anything to stop Messi’s greatness.
His international teammate, Kenneth Omeruo, was on the bench for the entire duration of the match. Leganes will hope to put this setback behind them when they welcome Real Sociedad in a La Liga clash on Sunday.
