The congratulatory messages continue to flow in for Oshoala after the Super Falcons striker picked up her record-equalling fourth Africa’s Best Award.
Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala was, on Wednesday evening, named the best female player on the continent, winning a historic fourth CAF African Women Player of the Year award.
The 25-year-old sealed her place among the football greats by becoming only the second player in history – after compatriot Perpetua Nkwocha – to win the CAF African Women’s Player of the Year award a record four times.
The former Arsenal star was the only Nigerian to come away from the CAF-organized ceremony with an award after Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi, and the duo of Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen were all snubbed in the Best XI and Best Youth Player categories respectively.
Her numerous fans, individuals and corporate bodies have congratulated Oshoala following her remarkable feat. Nigeria’s Sports Minister, Mr Sunday Dare, former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo and one of Nigeria’s foremost banking institutions, Ecobank are among those celebrating the Nigerian heroine.
