The Super Eagles star scored was again impressive as he scored his sixth goal of the season in Leicester’s City’s draw against Aston Villa.
Iheanacho turnaround in form drew praises from Gary Lineker who expressed his delight in seeing the Super Eagles star blossom under Brendan Rodgers.
The Super Eagles star endured a difficult start to the campaign with just two appearances in the Carabao Cup for the first five months of the season.
However, his season turned around at the start of last month-precisely the Foxes Premier League clash against Everton. With Leicester trailing at home to the Toffees, Rodgers brought on Iheanacho for his first league appearance of the season, and it was an opportunity he took, setting up Jamie Vardy’s leveller before scoring the winner in stoppage time.
Since then Iheanacho has looked like a player reborn under Rodgers. The 23-year-old was at it again on Wednesday night as he rescued Leicester from the jaws of defeat in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium.
Brought on as a substitute again, the former Manchester City striker got on the end of a Jamie Vardy’s pass before finishing past Villa’s goalkeeper.
It was Iheanacho’s sixth goal of the season, and it drew praises from Lineker. The former England international took to his Twitter page to praise Iheanacho for the way he has turned his form around under Rodgers.
Iheanacho’s equalizer means Leicester’s Carabao Cup clash against Dean Smith side remains in the balance ahead of the second leg in three weeks.
