Moses Simon was unplayable last night, but it was not enough as Nantes was knocked out of the Coupe de France in a French Cup thriller Stade de la Beaujoire.
Rayan Cherki put Lyon ahead in the second minute before doubling Les Gones lead seven minutes later. Renaud Emond halved the deficit for Nantes in the 16th-minute following a brilliant cross from Simon, but Cherki’s defence-splitting pass set up Martin Terrier to restore Lyon’s two-goal lead.
Chelsea target Moussa Dembele made it four in the 61st minute of the encounter after Nantes goalkeeper had saved his initial spot-kick
Nantes tried to stage a comeback, and they almost did. Super Eagles star Moses Simon was at the heart of it, setting up Imran Louza for Nantes second goal, before adding the third in the 86th minute to set up a nervy finish.
