Highflying Leeds United succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat against the Hoops at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium after yet another fine display from youngster Eberechi Eze.
The Nigeria-eligible midfielder was the star of the encounter as Mark Warburton’s men claimed their 11th win of the campaign courtesy of Nikhi Wells’ first-half strike.
Heading into the game week 28 encounter, second-placed Leeds were the favourites against the struggling Hoops that sat 13 places and 17 points behind Marcelo Bielsa’s men at kick-off.
But QPR, still hurting from last weekend’s disappointing 3-1 defeat at Brentford, did not read the script. After surviving the visitors’ early wave of attacks, Wells struck what turned out to be the winner for the hosts in the 20th minute following good work from Eze.
The 21-year-old was influential throughout and, according to whoscored ratings, was the best player on the pitch on both sides.
The England youth international could not add to his 10 goals scored so far, but coach Warburton would be delighted with a win that pushes Rangers further up the Championship table.
