Barcelona Make History, Go Top Of The Money League

The Spanish champions have finally seen success on the pitch push them above all others on the list of the world’s wealthiest.

Barcelona have, for the first time, climbed to the peak of the Deloitte’s Football Money League after overtaking bitter rivals Real Madrid.

Neither of the two Spanish giants made it to the final of the UEFA Champions League last term, but the Catalans ended the season as the La Liga winners. Manchester United fell from the top position they occupied in 2018 to now rank as the third richest in the world but the Old Trafford landlords are still the wealthiest club in England.

That may also soon change, though, as the Red Devils are at risk of losing their position as the Premier League’s highest revenue generating club for the first time in next year’s edition of the Money League, according to the world’s top accountancy firm.

Liverpool, despite their Champions League triumph last term, come behind England champions Manchester City on the log, while the duo of Tottenham and Chelsea complete a strong representation for England in the top ten. Juventus have won the Serie A in the last eight consecutive seasons, but the Old Ladies only sit tamely in tenth place.
