Serie A side Cagliari are interested in bringing Heracles forward Cyriel Dessers to Italy when the January transfer window opens. The Super Eagles hopeful confirmed the high flying Serie A club are interested in his services following his brilliant performances this season.
The former NAC Breda star has been a revelation in the Dutch topflight this season with 15 goals and 5 assists in all competitions for Heracles Almelo.
Dessers netted his 12th league goal of the current campaign at Heerenveen on Saturday which saw him go clear at the top of the goalscorer’s chart in the Dutch top flight.
Dessers’ top form has aroused interest from several top European clubs including Club Brugge, with Cagliari – sixth on the Serie A table – now confirmed to have joined the scramble for his signature.
While confessing his admiration for Italy, Dessers is however not interested in a January switch to the country.
“Cagliari have recently come to enquire about me, but there is still a difference between coming and enquiring and making an effective bid,” the Nigerian-Belgian told Dutch ex-international Andy van der Meyde as quoted by VoetbalNieuws.be.
“Italy is a beautiful country. I went there on holiday 2 years ago, and it is fantastic.”
“In any case, it seems wise to finish the season at Heracles first. Then we can see which teams are interested.”
Cagliari already boast Brazil forward João Pedro who has banged in 11 Serie A goals this term. But I Rossoblu are intent on adding more firepower to an attack that has smashed in 33 goals in 17 league games – the joint fourth-best in the division.
