Samuel Chukwueze Helps Villarreal To An Impressive Win At Sevilla

Super Eagles golden boy Samuel Chukwueze was on for 66 minutes as Villarreal stunned Sevilla in La Liga clash between the two sides on Sunday.

It was the second home defeat for Julen Lopetegui’s side. Raul Albiol opened the scoring for the Yellow Submarines in the 13th minute, guiding the ball home from a Mario Gaspar’s flick.

But Sevilla restored parity through Munir in the 61st minute only for Karl Toko Ekambi to restore Villarreal’s lead thirteen minutes later.

The Cameroonian was brought on for Samuel Chukwueze who played 66 minutes of the encounter. The 20-year-old has scored three times for Villarreal this season, but could not add to his tally at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

It was Chukwueze’s ninth start of the season and 16th appearance in La Liga.  The win over Sevilla lifted Villarreal to 13th with 22 points.

Sevilla, meanwhile are now four points behind both Barcelona and Real Madrid who lead the table with 35 points despite having a game in hand.
