The Super Eagles of Nigeria will get to know their opponents for the Qatar 2022 qualifiers on January 21, 2020, after the world football governing body, FIFA announced the dates for Africa and South America draws.
The draws for the South American section will hold on December 17, 2019, with the teams playing in a league format.
Africa’s section of the qualifiers already started in September, with the lower-ranked teams playing each other in a knockout tie.
14 winners emerged from that round, and are set to be paired against the top 26 ranked teams from the continent (based on the December FIFA rankings).
They will be split into ten groups with each group containing four teams. The four teams from each group will play each other in a home and away tie, with the winners advancing to the next round.
The next round will see the winners of the 10 groups paired against each other in a knockout tie. The five winners of the knockout ties will represent the continent at the biggest showpiece on earth.
Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup is set to hold between 21 November and 18 December 2022.- The first to be played outside the traditional summer period.
