It was a day of maiden hat-trick for one of Super Eagles stars as Bordeaux spanked Nimes 6-0 in Tuesday’s French League clash at the Matmut Atlantique.
Josh Maja opened the floodgate of goals in the 24th minute with a quality finish that went past Nimes goalkeeper, Paul Bernardoni.
Thirteen minutes later, the Nigerian international grabbed his brace with another sublime finish to net his third goal within three days.
Maja, who scored in Les Girondins’ 1-1 draw against Reims at the weekend, finally grabbed his first hattrick in Ligue 1 as he netted in the 53rd minute to put the game beyond Nimes reach.
Bordeaux’s Nicolas De Preville made it 4-0 in the 58th minute with a great finish to the delight of the home supporters. Otavio added the fifth and the sixth goal in the 76th and 87th minutes to brush aside Nimes.
