Ex international, Mutiu Adepoju has picked Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi as one of the most outstanding players for Nigeria in Europe in the outgoing year.
Ndidi, who has played in 16 of Leicester City’s 17 games in the Premier League this season, is an integral part of Brendan Rodgers’s side, scoring two goals.
He signed with the club during the 2016-17 winter transfer window. Since then, the 23-year-old talent has blossomed into one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.
Under manager Brendan Rodgers, the Nigerian international has improved in all aspects of his game. Not only has Ndidi established himself as a fan favourite within the club, but his performance is also getting more recognition.
His brilliance this season has also caught the attention of Mutiu Adepoju who described the former Nathan Boys as one of the most improved Super Eagles players in Europe in 2019.
He told Soccernet.ng that Ndidi has taken his game beyond another level for the Foxes this ongoing season.
“If there is one player that has caught my attention, that will certainly be Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City. Quite with his game, Ndidi has impressed me this season and in 2019 as a whole going by his outstanding performance with the Foxes,” Adepoju told Soccernet.ng
“He may not be scoring the goals for the team but then, Ndidi has become the heart and soul of the Foxes midfield. This has also reflected in the team’s position in the Premier League as they are currently sitting second behind runaway leaders, Liverpool.”
“Although there are other Nigerian players such as Victor Osimhen that has done well with Lille in Ligue 1, however, I still rate Ndidi ahead of him.”
The Nigerian international is expected to be in the starting line up as Leicester City face their toughest test in the Premier League against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium today (Saturday).
