Josh Maja has only started once before last night, but he made a case for himself as he scored his first league goal in since August in Bordeaux’s 1-1 draw with Reims.
On a night where Victor Osimhen’s also scored for Lille, it was Josh Maja’s goal that stood out. The former Sunderland star got on the end of an Aurelien Tchouameni’s pass to finish past Rajkovic with a cheeky backheel finish.
However, Bordeaux was pegged back in the 90th minute through Boulaye Dia to ensure the points are shared. Nevertheless, it was an impressive performance from Maja on his second start of the season and was named the man of the match.
His international teammate, Samuel Kalu also played in the encounter but he was taken off in the 62nd-minute for Youssouf Sabaly. Les Girondins are fifth in the Ligue 1 standings with 23 points.
