Everton’s Interim Manager Says Iwobi’s Performance Was Incredible

Everton’s caretaker manager, Duncan Ferguson has praised the work-rate of Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi in the team’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Having started ten of Everton’s seventeen matches in the Premier League, logging 1,033 minutes and scoring one goal, the Nigerian international has become a key figure in the Toffees side.

On Sunday, the former Arsenal star could have grabbed the headline, but his late minute strike was stopped by Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gae.

Reacting to Iwobi’s workaholic attitude in the colours of the Toffees against the Red Devils, Ferguson described him as an incredible player.

He also lauded the general performance of his players, pointing out Mason Holgate for doing a good job in the midfield.

”Everyone was dropping like flies, we had a lot of sickness – but I like a 4-4-2 and thought Mason would do a good job in midfield and was proven correct,” Ferguson said to Everton’s official webpage.

“I thought he was tremendous, they all were. Alex Iwobi was incredible, the distances he was covering.”

The Nigerian international will hoping to continue his good forme when Everton welcome Leicester City in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final at Goodison Park.
