Super Eagles duo of Samuel Kalu and Josh Maja came off the bench to help Bordeaux secure a precious 1-1 draw against Nice in Friday’s Ligue 1 action.
Kalu was introduced in the 70th minute for Hwang Ui-Jo after Jimmy Briand had leveled parity for the visitor in the 49th minute of the game. Pierre Lees Melou had put Patrick Vieira’s team in front with a bullet of a header in the 27th minute at the Allianz Riviera Stadium.
The Nigerian international, who has been invited by Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho respectively, made some brilliant efforts in the game only to be denied by Nice goalkeeper, Walter Benitez.
Kalu’s fellow compatriot, Maja also came on for Francois Kamano in the 83rd minute but had little time to make his presence felt in the encounter.
Bordeaux have now taken 11 of their points on the road, more than any team except PSG who are at Brest on Saturday.
