Former Super Eagles Star Advises NFF On The Way Forward Following Eaglets Failure

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju has advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to go back to the drawing board in a bid to build a sound Golden Eaglets side that could compete for honour at the next FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Adepoju stated this on the backdrop of the team’s failure to progress to the quarter-final of the competition after the Manu Garba-led team lost 3-1 to the Netherlands in the Round of 16 on Wednesday.

The headmaster as he was fondly regarded during his playing days, stated that the football body must commence early preparation in order for Nigeria to regain their past glory.

“The round leather game is all about winning and losing but it is sad that we are losing; a lot can be done to reverse the trend,” Adepoju stated.

“We need to start preparing for the next championships now. We have to put the defeats behind us and see how we can regain our past glory.”

  • I agree 100% The eaglets must always be serious with the approach of every game as very , very important. Samson Ogunloye.

  • Headmaster, you are a respected former Pro in Nigeria and we expect that you and all the former Eagles wether at home or abroad should know the solution to the dismal performances of Nigerian National teams and clubsides in both Continental and Global competitions. The answer is beyond early preparation , it has all to do with the abandonment of sçhool/ grassroot developmental football that used to throw up talents in Nigeria . Until we go back to real developmental football competition Nigerian football will continue to perform at the level even below the standard of countries we used to refer to as minnows
