Europa League: Joe Aribo Helps Rangers Secure Famous Victory Over Porto

Rangers moved a step closer towards qualification for Europa League Round of 32 with a stunning 2-0 victory over former Champions League winners, FC Porto.

Super Eagles star, Joe Aribo played a part in the victory as he came on for Ryan Kent in the 83rd minute to help the Gers preserved the lead.

Following a goalless first half, Steven Gerrard’s side took the lead in the 69th minute through Alfredo Morelos. The Colombian international scored his 20th goal of the season after he was found by Ryan Jack on the right.

The goal sent the Ibrox fans wild, and they were celebrating soon again as Steve Davis made it two, three minutes later. The former Southampton man fired a shot from 20 yards out which deflected past Marchesin in Porto’s goal.

Knowing the team has a comfortable lead, Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard brought on Super Eagles midfielder, Joe Aribo in the 83rd minute to keep possession.

It proved to be a masterstroke as Rangers held on for a famous victory in what was an unforgettable night at Ibrox. The Gers are level on points with leaders Young Boys with the result, although the Swiss sit on top courtesy of a superior goal difference.

Rangers could wrap up qualification in their next game should they beat Feyenoord, and Porto do not get anything from their trip to Switzerland.
